Completing the exploratory essay was slightly challenging. However I was able to benefit from many examples in The Norton Field Guide, i also had to do a bit of outside research to give me a good idea of how I should formulate this essay in the best way possible.

Writing the exploratory essay was troublesome at first, because this time I was dealing with a different audience as opposed to when I was writing the narrative essay. Also the purpose of this essay was different. I wasn’t writing about myself or my experience this time, this was more of a research writing. I spend quite sometimes looking for  a picture and a text that could really exemplify my thesis. Another challenge that I had faced was the in-depth description of my picture. I first thought, there was only so much you could say about just one photograph. But as I focused and really put my mind to it, I have wrote about almost 7 lines, just describing the photograph. Which made me think, sometimes one over simplifies things they don’t really look a lot into. The Norton Field Guide was really helpful. I read all of the examples it offers and they were really resourceful. They helped me with structuring my essay.

Collaborating with my fellow students again was a very positive experience, It was very interesting to see how my peer responded to my essay; what he liked, what he was confused about. I was a bit on the edge at first, but after receiving a first opinion I was glad I was on the right track. Moreover this assignment naturally led me to explore my own writings, it introduce me to a new frontier. I haven’t overcome all my weaknesses, but I can say i am more aware of them and will be working forward to turn them into strengths.
